Irisan comes from the Ibaloi term "idisan" meaning a wood used to grind something to make it fine. Irisan used to be a part of Tuba, Benguet under the first mayor of Tuba, Swaking Ismek or Joaquin Smith.

Felix Luna, a son of one of the 20 or so original Ibaloi families who had first settled in the community of Irisan during the early 1900's married Virginia Luna. She is a native of Barlig who came to Irisan with her father in 1946. Aside from Luna, other original Ibaloi families of Irisan are Oseo, Palgi, Gabol, Pucay. Must are related to each other as siblings or cousins, since it was the practice of the Ibaloi then to intermarry among themselves. The Irisan story were told by Virginia Luna where in according to her, a lot of changes had occur as years goes by.

In 1983, land was sold with a price of P2.00 per square meter wherein this started the influx of thousands of settlers and squatters into Irisan. The Cypress was sold to a land development company and converted the land into a subdivision. The Dumpsite later became public land of the city that was used for housing.

All these developments brought drastic changes to Irisan. Where before were thick pine forests, gardens, pasture lands and a few scattered houses, are now denuded mountains filled with houses and other structures that have mushroomed all over the place.

Daily Devotion

"With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
-Matthew 19:26

Facing a problem is already part of our life. It is a situation that we need to dealt with and overcome.

Most of us are easy to quit and unable to solve the dilemma. Why? Because we keep on complaining. We questioned everything! "There are tons of people out their but why me?" Why does it need to be you? It's because God has a plan for you. He chose you because He believes in you. It is because He knows that you can handle it and conquer no matter what the problem is. You just need to trust Him. Trust Him with all your mind, with all your strength and with all your soul. Lift everything up to Him.

We have difficulty in overcoming those challenges because we do it all on our own. But you know what? God is always by your side. He is just above you. Learn to look up and pray. He's waiting for you. Don't be afraid. Have faith. Nothing is impossible with God. Trust Him.

You can listen to this song while contemplating. :)
